I painted three warm-up paintings, and wonder why, again, I have to relearn that gouache dries darker and eyes need to adjust to strong light, but here they are. I loved setting up in a cave and also sitting on the side of a cliff to paint. It's wonderful to know that I can do this day after day and not have to worry about getting anything "right" the first time.
I also want to note that I'm either experiencing the "real" Algarve, not crowded, peaceful and easy to get around... or what I'm experiencing has no relationship to the "real" Algarve, which I've read has been a summertime traffic jam of tourists, tour buses and tour boats equipped with loud microphones jockeying for space among the caves. Whatever -- this is a great time to be here and I'm loving it.
Your routine sounds perfect! During your stay, please work on taste-testing ports. When you return, we can have a “Port Party” and sample your favorites. Teresa. P.S. Jane made it to PM. I’m ready to judge a sunset competition. 😊
ReplyDeleteI realize the paintings are just studies and warmups, but consider them purchased by moi!
